Ranking the total square land area coverage by country, from highest to lowest.
The Square Land Area value of each country generally reflects its overall military strength as larger swathes of territory produce more goods as well as people while allowing access to greater reserves of natural resources and valuable trade routes. Conversely, the greater the Square Land Area coverage within the GFP ranking formula, the greater the need for homeland defense (which is taken into account). However, exceptions to this rule are made with examples such as the United Kingdom and Israel whose overall square land area does not necessarily reflect the overall capabilities of its fighting force.
