Helicopter Carrier Fleet Strength by Country (2023)
NAVAL POWER | FLEET STRENGTH
Ranking total number of helicopter carrier warships by country, from highest to lowest.
Helicopter Carriers provide a fighting nation a unique, extended capability at sea by helping to bringing the fight to the enemy. These warships are dimensionally smaller and less expensive to procure and are continuing to gain popularity globally particularly for those powers not able to afford larger types supporting fixed-wing aircraft. Rotary-wing solutions aboard these ships include supply, Search & Rescue (SAR), MEDEVAC, submarine hunting, battlefield surveillance, troop insertion/extraction, and general scouting. Key operators include the USMC, France, Egypt, Australia, and Japan.
Landlocked nations are NOT penalized for the lack of a standing naval force but those powers with clear access to oceans ARE penalized for lacking a carrier element. Helo Carriers currently under construction are excluded.
