Middle Eastern Powers Ranked by Military Strength

Regardless of whatever leaders or groups are in power, peace continues to elude the Middle East.

OVERVIEW

The Middle East remains a hotbed for violence and war, forcing the various powers of the region to maintain effective and large standing armies. Some are beginning to advance their inventories to gain the upper hand while others still rely on sheer numbers for victory. Key regional players remain Turkey, Egypt, Israel, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. The current war in Syria has drawn many neighboring parties into the conflict only adding to regional instability.

The GFP list makes use of over 55 factors in our in-house formula to determine a given nation's Power Index ('PwrIndx') score. This provides the final ranking while also allowing smaller, more technologically-advanced, nations to compete with larger, lesser-developed ones. Some bonuses and penalties are added for refinement that, in the end, we hope presents an unbiased look into the potential conventional military strength of a world power.

For 2019 there are a total of 15 countries included in this listing.
