The amphibious assault is one of the most complicated military operations of any military - requiring expert cohesion of land, air and sea forces to execute. Many modern naval arms retain various vessels intended to support such an action and these are primarily tied to a naval or marine force. Our listing includes both support craft and landing ships that would be utilized for conducting an amphibious assault.
For the purposes of the GFP final ranking, landlocked nations are not penalized for the lack of a standing naval force. However, nations with a standing navy are penalized for lack of certain naval assets.
